Connect Slack
Turn on Chat first. An owner or admin connects the workspace.
Connect Slack to my devboxes Organization. Give me the link to approve the devboxes app, then list the Slack channels that devboxes can see. Ask me which channel works on which devboxes Project, and assign them.
To do it yourself:
An owner or admin can also open Integrations > Slack in devboxes and choose Add to Slack instead of steps 1 and 2.
-
Start the installation:
organization.json { "organizationId": "<organization id>" }devboxes invoke chat.connect-slack --input @organization.json -
Open the
authorizationUrlfrom the result and approve the devboxes app for your Slack workspace. The browser then returns to the Slack page under Integrations in devboxes, which says whether devboxes was added. -
List the channels devboxes can see:
devboxes invoke chat.discover-slack-channels --input @organization.json -
Invite the devboxes app to the channel, then mention
@devboxes.
devboxes does nothing in a Slack Connect channel, because people from other organizations share it.
A Slack workspace that connected devboxes before devboxes could post files and see images must approve the devboxes app again: repeat steps 1 and 2.
chat.disconnect also removes the devboxes app from the Slack workspace. If Slack refuses, the result's warning names Slack's error, and a Workspace Owner or app manager removes the app in Slack: click the workspace name in the sidebar, then Tools & settings > Manage apps > Installed Apps > devboxes > App Details > Configuration > Remove App.
Run a request on a schedule
Have devboxes run a request at set times, such as every weekday at 8:00, or on every new GitHub issue, and post the results in the thread where you asked.
Connect Microsoft Teams
Consent to the devboxes app in your Microsoft Entra tenant, upload it to your organization's Teams apps, add it to a team, and assign its channels to Projects.
