Connect Telegram

Turn on Chat first. An owner or admin of the Organization connects one Telegram group, and needs to be allowed to add members to that group.

To do it yourself:

An owner or admin can also open Integrations > Telegram in devboxes and choose Add to Telegram instead of steps 1 and 2.

1. Create the connect link:

   devboxes invoke chat.connect-telegram --input @organization.json

2. Within 15 minutes, open the connectUrl from the result in Telegram, choose the group, and add devboxes. devboxes confirms in the group that it is connected.

3. Mention @devboxes_bot in the group with a request.

The group is the one channel of a Telegram Integration, so it works on every Project of your Organization, including Projects added later. Nobody assigns it Projects, and chat.configure-channel refuses a Telegram Integration.

A group holds one conversation with devboxes. devboxes does not support forum topics: a mention in a topic joins the group's conversation, and devboxes replies in the General topic. Telegram delivers every group message to devboxes. devboxes answers a message that mentions @devboxes_bot or replies to devboxes. In ambient mode, it also answers every other message a person writes in the group. devboxes drops every message it doesn't answer on arrival, without keeping it. devboxes does not take work in private chats: it answers a private message with where to ask. When Telegram refuses the private link because the person never started a private chat with devboxes, chat.link-account answers a start link, and devboxes sends the link privately once that person opens it.

If devboxes doesn't answer mentions in a group that added it earlier, remove devboxes from the group and connect the group again from step 1. Telegram applies which messages devboxes receives only when devboxes joins a group.

chat.disconnect also removes devboxes from the group. If Telegram refuses, the result's warning says so, and a group administrator removes devboxes from the group's member list.
